How is the economy of Herefordshire bearing up in the time of Covid?

We’ve been looking at ways in which people in Herefordshire (where our main office is located) could understand the state of the economy right now. Potentially this could help people and organisations make good decisions about policy and investments. It could also help all of us across the county understand how things are changing and whether policy and investment decisions are having the desired effect.

There are official statistics of course and these are often presented for the county by Herefordshire Council. We’re interested in additional datasets that might add value to those official statistics.

One dataset I’ve been looking at is the Google Mobility Data which shows how visits to different sorts of areas (workplaces, parks etc) are changing day by day. We’ve set up a page to present this data for Herefordshire. it updates every day.

Please have a look and let us know if you find it useful (and what more we could do to make it more useful).

Theres; been a big change in visits to parks and retail locations in Herefordshire

We’d like to develop a project to draw more of these additional datasets together.

To be successful we need to understand what sort of additional data would help different people across the county make better decisions, and monitor the impact of their decisions.

We’d also like to know if anyone has access to datasets that might be useful which aren’t currently published at a Herefordshire level.

If you have questions about the economy of the county or data that might help inform the economy of the county, please do get in touch.
