Welcoming two new faces at Data Orchard

We are delighted to introduce you to two new members of the team who have joined us recently.

Becca Worsley, Data Analyst, Data Orchard

I studied Engineering Mathematics at University of Bristol, graduating in 2018. I have since worked for a software development company, and more recently for a small start-up called Imby (“in my backyard”). Imby developed an app which helps people to get into (ecological) gardening, and aims to collect a wide range of data regarding privately owned green spaces, particularly in urban settings. My task whilst with imby was for a company called Considerate, who work with the hospitality industry to help reduce the sector’s energy consumption. I put together an algorithm to predict the energy savings of hospitality facilities post the implementation of an energy conservation measure, given historical data, and worked with the back-end developer to integrate this into the application. This was an amazing experience, and I am so happy to be welcomed into a new team at Data Orchard who are using data for good.

(I’m also a creative who loves watercolour painting and textiles, and recently qualified as a holistic massage therapist!)

My role with Data Orchard is as a Data Analyst, and I will be helping out on a variety of projects doing lots of analyses and data visualisations. I will also be working on the development of the Data Maturity Assessment product, and will be co-delivering workshops on data fluency and other topics.

I’m extremely excited to learn about Data Orchard’s approach, to see and experience the development of interesting projects, and to work with lots of wonderful new people. Looking forward to getting stuck in!

Charlotte Godsall, Student placement at Data Orchard

I am an undergraduate student, going into my 2nd year of studying a BSc Mathematics degree and I am working at DataOrchard as a student work placement. I am specifically interested in statistics and modelling data. This is my first role in the field of data science so I am really looking forward to learning and developing my knowledge surrounding this, especially getting involved in the Mapio Cymru project and this year’s annual report.
